The SU-76 was a remarkable weapon that was produced in greater numbers than any other Soviet armoured vehicle aside from the T-34. It was both loved and hated by its crews who referred to it as the Suka – ‘bitch’ –because its thin armour and open top made it vulnerable while its low ground pressure and light weight made it manoeuvrable.
